What comes wrapped in a big red bow and makes a graphite Landcruiser look great? Well a graphite Patriot Campers X3 of course 😉
The big day had arrived, pick up of the Patriot Campers X3 was here. We piled into the Landcruiser and headed to Patriot HQ at Molendinar, near the Gold Coast, eager to collect it. Luckily we had found a good home for the Onyx Blue GXL a week beforehand, so there was room in the garage and the bank manager had been appeased.
We waited for a while in reception, which could have been a ploy to get us browsing the merchandise stand for Patriot fan club attire, and then the formalities of registration forms and hand over checklists. Then the long awaited reveal of the Travelling Two’s home when not at home.
Tommy (Sales Manager) gave us a 2 hour run through of the set up, controls and features of the camper, much of which wasn’t absorbed in the excitement and rush of information, however hours of watching and rewatching YouTube clips of the camper had me pretty well versed on most of it. Once hitched on the Cruiser we had the obligatory pic out the front of HQ and rolled into the Friday afternoon traffic on the M1 back to Brisbane.
Much of the drive home was quiet, I think partly due to realisation we had just handed over a house deposit in value for a camper trailer at a time when there was plenty of uncertainty in our own world and the world in general. In between thought bubbles and our chat I was fiddling with the mirrors admiring our beautiful new camper trailer and thinking about the tweaks and modifications I already had in the pipeline.
I only have a week to get many of these projects sorted because first outing for the X3 is already booked in as base camp for Lachie’s Buck’s Party, camping on Teerwah Beach next weekend. If I’m honest, I’m almost as excited about the fiddling and tweaking of the camper to suit our purpose as I am about getting out in it, a character flaw shared by many engineers….
