We are two travellers, overlanding through Australia during the gaps between cancer treatments and life’s other hurdles. Each trip lays down memories for us that are captured in this blog to be shared and perhaps inspire the traveller in you.
Our road (and off road) tripping mule of choice is a 2019 200 Series Landcruiser VX, customised mostly by ourselves to suit both towing an off road camper trailer and undertaking self sufficient expeditions without a trailer when on more difficult tracks. It includes long range fuel tank, on board water tank, fridge, body armour and an electrical fit out to keep everything monitored and energised.
We recently upgraded camper trailers having sold our Patriot Campers X3 and taken delivery of a new Track Trailer TVAN Zenith that was built to our specification for delivery in September 2021. We have since modified the TVAN to include a more comprehensive electrical power installation and a few gadgets to make touring easier and more comfortable.
Similar where it counts but different enough to keep things interesting, we are both afflicted by a wanderlust that always has us planning the next trip and scheming how to make it fit our calendar and budget.
I am an electrical engineer and outdoor enthusiast whose inquisitive nature solves some problems but creates plenty more. The Landcruiser and camper trailer are my perpetual projects, always being tinkered with and “improved”. I love to visit the scene of Australian stories and history, while avoiding bitumen roads to get there and back.
Suzzanne is a world traveler who can’t sit still and keeps the outfit organised and on track. The jet setting girl who once flew on the Concorde from London to New York is now (nearly) as happy digging out a bogged car or swatting the crazy hordes of outback flies. As well as navigating each trip she ensures that both our furry and human loved ones are well looked after when we’re tripping around.
